Leftistan

Yesterday in Dupont Circle we attended a lesbian sageing. They chanted a litany to cleanse the evil of the Bush Administration. Oh and there was a giant inflatable Bush that you could toss shoes at. : )

Alexander!!!

Micheal's dear friends George and Svetya just had their first child and for whatever reason were crazy enough to let him hold little Alexi. Babies are so cute especially when they belong to friends.

Dumbarton Oaks

Micheal and I wandered to Dumbarton Oaks in Georgetown yesterday. It has to excellent if incongruous collections, Byzantine/ classical and precolumbian mesoamerican . Apparently Mrs Post had rather eclectic tastes in artwork and assembled the collection in the early part of the 20th century.

The Pre Columbian collection is housed in a beautiful pavilion that is comprised of five circular and domed rooms around a circular courtyard with a fountain in the center. The walls are all glass making it one of the most striking small museum spaces I have ever seen. The acoustics inside are very peculiarApparently it was designed in the 50's by Phillip Johnson well known for the worlds fair towers in New York.

DC Roof Top

At the intersection of Irving and Georgia Ave. NE I saw a Rottweiler. On the roof of what appeared to be an abandoned building. he looked like a happy if protective puppy.

Bread Bowl, hatchet, and Prayer Book

Niko and I exchanged our Christmas gifts today. I received a hatchet, prayer book, and a bread bowl. The bread bowl is particularly lovely. Niko hails from south eastern Ohio a region that was noted for its production of stoneware for well over a century now. The bread bowl is a match to one he purchased a few years ago and that I have been lusting after since first I laid eyes on it. It seems that the pottery that made these has gone out of business and the mold for this particular bowl has been lost. Meaning that unless someone really cares and wants to reconstitute the mold from an existing bowl there will be no more of this lovely bowl. It's very deep and probably holds a solid three gallons.
Here's a new picture of Elias cuddling with me.
